JOB TITLE

Lead Teacher

We’re looking to hire an experienced professional to join our team as A Lead Teacher at Kids Rock! Child Care Center in Luverne, MN.

Under the general and technical supervision of the Executive Director, the Lead Teacher provides a stimulating, safe and developmentally appropriate educational environment where children have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills.

As Lead Teacher, you will:

  • Ensure that the physical, social and emotional needs of the children are met daily.
  • Creates curriculum, activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration and problem solving appropriate to the developmental levels and learning styles of children through well-defined interest areas.
  • Assists and supervises children during all activities.
  • Ensures that appearance, cleanliness and safe environment of the classroom are appropriately maintained, in accordance with Kids Rock! Sanitizing guidelines.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, Kids Rock events, and parent meetings, as requested.
  • Completes all classroom paperwork: for example, daily reports, student accident reports, and attendance records.
  • Develops, plans and prepares instructional aids and/or materials for classroom activities. and implements classroom lesson plans.
  • Assists children with mealtimes and cleanup.
  • Ensures that all classroom and outdoor equipment are in good working condition and are used and maintained properly.
  • Interacts with parents and maintains open communication to encourage family engagement.
  • Schedules and conducts 2 parent/teacher conferences yearly.
  • Ensures all licensing regulations are being met.
  • Must be able to lift no less than 40 pounds on a consistent basis throughout the work day.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

PAY

  • Pay $18-21 Per Hour DOQ

HOURS

Full-time, 40 hours per week,

-Monday - Friday

-10 hour shifts 4 days a week

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must meet the education and experience qualifications of a teacher specified in Minnesota Rules part 9503.0032
  • Must pass MN DHS Background Study

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

  • Customer Service: Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Dependability & Flexibility: Maintain reliable, regular attendance with a flexible schedule, including availability for early mornings and later evenings as needed.
  • Organizational Skills: Effectively organize, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously while ensuring high-quality work. Strong problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Communication Skills: Demonstrate excellent verbal communication with parents and team members, as well as clear written communication for parent updates and necessary paperwork, plus basic knowledge of technology and its use.
  • Crisis Management: Stay calm and composed during crises to handle situations effectively.
  • Childcare Experience: Experience working with young children and understanding of local, state, and federal childcare regulations.
  • Safety Supervision: Monitor and respond promptly to children to ensure a safe environment, including having the physical ability to move quickly when needed. Certification in first aid and CPR required within 3 months of hire; must be maintained.
  • Cultural Competence: Positively engage with diverse cultures, traditions, lifestyles, languages, and values of children, families, and the community.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality of client information with integrity.
  • Representation & Professionalism: Serve as a positive ambassador of the center's mission, demonstrating a positive, professional, and respectful demeanor in alignment with the Center’s policies and procedures.
  • Continuing Education: Complete required amount of training hours each calendar year per state licensing requirements.
