Then this is the perfect job for you! You will be teaching groups of children basic engineering concepts and guiding them in building their own robots. We will train you in all the unique skills, tools, and concepts needed for the position. We are especially looking for people who are creative, DIY-lovers, great with kids, and deeply interested in learning more about STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). Our teachers have backgrounds in various disciplines, including carpentry, education, visual and performing arts. We need people who can take a hot glue gun to popsicle sticks and cardboard and create something that physically holds up and looks totally awesome - all while having a blast!

Responsibilities
  • Teach robot-building classes
    • Manage a classroom of kids for a robot-building session
    • Have an encouraging demeanor, promoting confidence in kids
    • Ensure the classes stay on time and within their agreed-upon time limit
    • Troubleshoot robot issues (we will teach you how!)
    • Stay positive and have fun under pressure
    • Quick thinking & improvisation in the classroom
    • Coordinate with other teachers, clients, and parents on site
  • Outside of Classes
    • Learn how to build the different projects
    • Travel to different locations to teach classes
    • Assist with coordinating, managing, staffing, and executing events
    • Assist with teacher training, onboarding, and shadowing for new teachers
    • Keep your tools organized and stocked
    • Report feedback to the appropriate channels
Hours and Compensation
  • Hours: 25-35 hours per week
  • Compensation: $20 per hour
Requirements
  • Enjoy working with children
  • Love to make things with your hands (e.g., woodworking, sculpture, crafts, set construction, baking, cooking, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Patient and friendly
  • Flexible
  • Like having fun
  • Believe in diversifying the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) classroom
  • Must be able to walk 1.5-2 miles per day
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds
  • Must be able to pass a CPR/First Aid certification (arranged by us)
  • Must be able to pass Child Abuse History, PA State Criminal History and FBI background check
  • Must be available to work weekends and school holidays
  • High school diploma or GED

Schedule

This is a part-time role with hours ranging from 25-35 per week. The precise schedule will be determined by the program calendar and student registrations.
