Job summary

The Rhode Island Department of Revenue, Division of Taxation, seeks a Principal Tax Auditor to supervise and review staff handling tax enforcement, collection and auditing processes. You will oversee the most complex audits, determine taxpayer liability, and present findings in hearings; a Bachelor's or Master's in Accounting is required, with a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or closely related field.
• Experience as Senior Tax Auditor or oversight of a small audit staff.
• Experience with complex tax programs and enforcement of tax laws.
• Valid driver's license required at time of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day work of audit staff in taxation and enforcement.
• Oversee complex tax audits to determine taxpayer liability.
• Conduct audit conferences with taxpayers, attorneys and accountants.
• Prepare audit reports and recommendations for prosecution or settlement.
• Represent the Tax Division in administrative hearings and proceedings.
