Job summary

Sunbelt Controls seeks an experienced lead Systems Software Engineer to design and implement large control system databases and programs. You will lead commissioning activities, coordinate field resources, and troubleshoot network issues across projects.

You will collaborate with project managers, designer staff, and end users, providing training and ensuring high-quality deliveries. A technical degree and strong MS Office/Windows skills are required, with travel and driver’s license as needed.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in a technical field or 6-10 years of related work experience in building automation systems and/or industrial control systems programming.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office, Windows, and File Structure.
• Individual possesses a strong aptitude and experience with TCP/IP network structure and web navigation.
• Must be highly organized and possess the ability to work in a high paced environment.
• Has the ability to operate independently and autonomously and yet possesses the discretionary judgment to know when it is appropriate to consult with others in the organization and Project Manager.
• Must possess a valid California driver’s license.
• Ability to execute their work to ensure high customer satisfaction and the highest quality deliverable.
• Demonstrates an ability to delegate basic and/or “stretch” tasks to less experienced staff and assign resource correctly to diagnose/address issues.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills are a requirement of this position.

Responsibilities

• Acts as lead Systems Software Engineer for large, complex databases and programs.
• Leads initial systems point-to-point commissioning activities.
• Gathers information for design engineering and graphic solutions in turnover meetings.
• Assists managers with allocation of engineering resources for scheduling and cost control.
• Supports troubleshooting of local and wide-area network issues.
• Supports pre-functional testing of system software in relation to design operations.
• Leads end-user training and field coordination with project teams.
• Provides pre-sales support and input on project costs as needed.
• Mentors junior engineers and coordinates field team activities.
