Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ is hiring a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to lead the Coyote CUAS Lead Systems Engineer efforts. The role focuses on driving system analysis, requirements development, design, integration, testing, and qualification, with direct interface to USG customers and production teams.

This onsite role is based at US-AZ-TUCSON-807 ~ 1151 E Hermans Rd ~ BLDG 807 in Tucson, AZ. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. Security clearance required: DoD Clearance: Secret, active and existing security clearance required after day 1.

The Effectors Center within the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) organization is currently hiring a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to serve as the Coyote CUAS Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) to join our Tucson, AZ location on the Coyote programs. The Coyote CUAS programs have several contracts with both Army and Navy customers with ongoing development, production and sustainment. SE&TC is an exciting and challenging environment where you will have the opportunity to design, develop and partner with multi-disciplines to shape innovative solutions for our customers.

The LSE is responsible for technical guidance and mentorship of multi-disciplined engineering teams. The LSE is also one of the senior technical interfaces with internal and external customers, industry partners, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders. The Coyote CUAS LSE is responsible for supporting the Chief Engineer (CE) in helping define and maintain the appropriate level of technical rigor and coordination across functions and engineering disciplines across the various production and sustainment efforts within the program. The candidate will also need prior multidiscipline engineering knowledge and experience, as well as production experience. The LSE is expected to mentor engineers both technically and with their career.

The primary focus of this LSE position will be to drive system analysis, requirements development, design, system performance, integration, test and qualification along with providing a direct engineering interface for production. The LSE will be expected to directly interface with the customer from the United States Government (USG) and partner with contractual requirements such as achieving DD250.

What You Will Do
  • Protect the system technical integrity to ensure we deliver a product that meets the customers’ and warfighters’ needs while working through challenges to accelerate
  • Coordinate efforts across multiple disciplines and program efforts, to include coordination with other Raytheon products and external customer entities
  • Communicate to Raytheon leadership to provide technical program status, accomplishments, issues, and help needed, while influencing the IPTs/CPTs to ensure appropriate and effective program alignment and teamwork. Provide guidance to multiple teams of multi-disciplined engineers in support of product production.
  • Interact and coordinate with program stakeholders, including program customers, government organizations, industry partners, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to influence and guide program production efforts.
  • Rapidly assimilate and apply knowledge in varied and disparate technical fields to achieve balanced system performance.
  • Accurately interpret internal and external customer requirements and objectives, effectively decomposing such into actionable direction to the program team and stakeholders.
  • You will coordinate technical aspects with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across multiple programs, using common hardware and software technology to maintain program execution pace
  • Help drive positive change within the production environment as a key stakeholder in Failure Review Boards, FRACAS activities, and other continuous improvement efforts
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience leading full systems engineering lifecycle.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Agility to support multiple customer and internal requirements and priorities
  • An advanced degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or related discipline
  • Experience in producing and testing guidance electronics systems or electronics subsystem products in the Defense Industry
  • Raytheon Level 4 (or higher) Certified Lead Systems Engineer
  • 10 or more years of relevant work experience including prior experience in a technical leadership role and including experience across the development and production lifecycle
  • Experience with / Understanding of RF electronics system performance
  • Experience in Land and Air Defense missile system architectures and products
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience across the product lifecycle, including concept development, architecture, design, integration, verification, qualification and production
  • Experience with test/support equipment
  • Ability to develop effective internal and external customer/stakeholder relationships to ensure customer/stakeholder satisfaction and continued business
  • Experience with Engineering Risk and Opportunity (R&O) and FRACAS Management

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
