Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer – Human Performance Research to apply systems engineering to government research programs focused on human performance and effectiveness.

The role interfaces with government, engineering, software, hardware, and research teams to review designs and manage risks for transition into operational use. The successful candidate will prepare technical documentation and briefings, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and support

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering or related field required.
• Expertise in systems discipline (systems engineering, human systems integration, modeling/analysis).
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to work with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Apply systems thinking to problem definition, analysis, and solution development.
• Review software, hardware, system, and workflow designs for quality and alignment with requirements.
• Lead or support the development, review, and approval of technical documentation for software and hardware.
• Evaluate technical performance, system maturity, and transition readiness.
• Identify risks, dependencies, interfaces, and impacts to research or operations.
• Support research-to-operations planning and transition of capabilities into operational environments.
• Collaborate with government customers, researchers, software/hardware engineers, and program managers.
• Provide clear technical recommendations to inform engineering and program decisions.
• Prepare and present technical briefings, assessments, roadmaps, and recommendations to leadership.
