Job Description

Lead Systems Engineer – EPS Applications Engineering

Recent business awards and newly adopted industry standards have generated the need for an experienced System Engineer in the TRW Electric Power Steering (EPS) Applications Engineering team. In this role, the successful candidate will apply classic “System Engineering” work methods to guide the product development team to the realization of the electro-mechanical steering system for a global vehicle application. The scope of responsibility spans the entire product development lifecycle from elicitation of customer requirements, through design, development, validation/verification approval, customer acceptance, and production.

The EPS Applications Lead Systems Engineer is responsible to:

  • Elicit all customer requirements
  • Lead or support activities to analyze requirements and synthesize design of a system which meets the customer requirements, as well as legislative, TRW safety and other internal requirements
  • Generate and maintain Product Compliance Matrix (PCM), gap analysis, and gap-closure action plans for all customer and system-level requirements
  • Generate system functional, architecture and subsystem functional requirements documents for flow down to subsystem/component teams establish bilateral traceability of requirements from system down to lowest-level implementation
  • Lead or support analysis activities as required – DFMEA, DRBFM, PFMEA, etc.
  • Generate verification & validation (V&V) plans to establish bilateral traceability and ensure all requirements are met at subsystem, system integration, top-level system, and vehicle levels
  • Approve results from verification & validation (V&V) activities support customer PCM review/approval
  • Lead or support product development Issue tracking, resolution, closure documentation
  • Establish system-level manufacturing and assembly “end-of-line” test requirements and limits
  • Lead or support impact analysis for product or requirement change requests received mid-development cycle, which may affect fit/form/function subsequent impact to cost or timing
  • Deliver system work products in support of the TRW Safety Process
  • Define vehicle “hazard” testing conduct, analyze data, document, and review with VM customer
  • Lead or support development of new features, functions, diagnostics, verification tests, etc. as required
Qualifications

  • Automotive electrical/chassis systems and vehicle dynamics knowledge preferred but not required

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (minimum) in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical/Mechatronic with requisite electrical knowledge/experience accepted
