Job description

Lead Systems Engineer (Finance)

The future is what you make it.

When you join Honeywell Aerospace, you become a member of our global team of thinkers, innovators, dreamers and doers who make the things that make the future. That means changing the way we fly, fueling jets in an eco-friendly way, keeping buildings smart and safe and even making it possible to breathe on Mars.

Working at Honeywell Aerospace isn't just about developing cool things. That's why all of our employees enjoy access to dynamic career opportunities across different fields and industries.

Are you ready to help us make the future?

Honeywell Aerospace is a $10B+ SBG (Strategic Business Group) with 40,000 employees in over 125 domestic and international locations. We are a leading global aviation supplier designing, manufacturing, and distributing advanced electronic systems, products, and services to commercial, defense and space industries.

Within Honeywell Aerospace, CNS (Communication, Navigation, Surveillance) is the Center of Excellence (COE) that is responsible for the innovation, development, certification and design maintenance of electronic Aerospace products related to communication, radio navigation and safe aircraft operation. Our vision is to be the premier world-class organization innovating value-added Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance products that delight our customers and ensure safe and efficient flight. The Radar Altimeters is an engineering group with the CNS organization in which this Lead System Engineer role is included - with products spread across both commercial and military domains.

While part of a large company and diverse organization, the Radar Altimeter group operates very much like a small business in many ways. We are fully integrated every aspect of a product's life cycle - from working with a customer on a concept and subsequent proposal, through development, verification, production, and even obsolescence refreshes. Our key contributors are expected to wear multiple "hats" dependent upon the program scope and timeline. With respect to System Engineers, our expectation on medium to smaller programs is for the to operate as both System and Design/Development Engineer - managing both the "system" side and the "design" side that falls under the particular discipline. As a Lead System role, additional expectations are to operate independently, self-learn, provide guidance and oversight to others on team, and expertise advise/recommendations to both engineering and business leadership.

Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide support to existing programs and as skills/familiarity quickly develop - operate independently on tasks/programs
  • Develop requirements and system architecture - perform trade studies
  • Design to meet requirements (discipline dependent)
  • Test and validate designs - in prototype phase and for formal compliance - on bench, at off-site test facilities, and flight testing with both Honeywell Aerospace and customer
  • Draft respective program artifacts, inclusive of items such as systems requirement document, test procedures and reports, white papers, etc.
  • Provide support for devices in production
  • Participate in proposals and cost estimation
  • "Jump in" and support other team members when/where needed
  • Perform RCCA on issues that arise during development and in production
  • Stay abreast of industry standards and trends and distill into actionable activities for team, programs, and products.
  • Provide "expert" recommendations to engineering and business leadership to evaluate decisions on pursuits, developments, and product roadmaps and strategies

The ideal candidate has a commitment to aviation safety, technical and professional excellence, a commitment to customer satisfaction and growth, demonstrates leadership and delivers on results, has global mindset and is able to foster teamwork and diversity, demonstrates personal and professional integrity, has strong oral and written communication skills, is able to work across functional boundaries at multiple levels, and can establish strong working relationships within internal/external customers and the certification agencies.
