Job description

Lead, Systems Engineering

The Lead, Systems Engineering, will be a senior member of a team accountable for the uptime and management of all SPE Global Enterprise Server Infrastructure. The position has a strong emphasis on enterprise system analysis, design, architecture, and project management, and requires an emphasis on problem management, project management as well as building and maintaining positive business relationships with IT organizations, clients and vendors.

Responsibilities
  • Senior team member on a team of Global Server Technology Team.
  • Perform installations and configurations of multiple virtualization technologies and operating systems.
  • Establish standards for server hardware and operating systems.
  • Establish server usage policies and communicate policies to affected audience(s).
  • Develop performance management procedures for server infrastructure.
  • Manage and maintain server resources globally.
  • Manage IT staff relationships to insure service levels and availability of all servers.
  • Manage outages, identify root causes and resolve all server issues within allowed service levels.
  • Participate in daily production meetings to report status of production systems.
  • Participate in change control, production acceptance and event management processes.
  • Participate in development of operational procedures and policies.
  • Participate in development of a viable, cost-effective disaster recovery capability.
  • Develop monthly reports on statistics and progress against internal and external service levels.
  • Manage server capacity and provide utilization statistics to capacity planner.
  • Provide oral and written status reports to IT management and customers.
Requirements
  • Minimum 8 years employment in the IT industry working with major systems and vendors.
  • Minimum 5 years experience deploying, managing and maintaining cloud services on one or more of the 3 major CSPs (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Minimum 5 years experience as an Intel and/or x86 systems administrator.
  • Minimum 8 years experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Minimum 3 years experience with virtualization OS (VMware, Power Virtual Server, Oracle VM).
  • Minimum 3 years experience with multi-tiered application development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or equivalent preferred.
  • Two or more years of entertainment industry experience is a plus.
  • Able to travel about 10% of the time.
Technical Skills
  • Computer networking concepts: switching, routing, firewalls.
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud technologies and services from the top three CSPs.
  • Linux: systems working knowledge, Bash/Python scripting, Ansible or other configuration management tools.
  • Windows: Group Policy, registry, protocols, configuration management tools.
  • Virtualization: SDDC/SDN/SDS concepts, preferably VMware or Nutanix products.
  • IAC/DevOps tools: Jenkins, GitHub, Terraform, etc.
  • System design: ER diagrams, n‑tier architecture, expertise in architecture drawing tools.
  • Contextual knowledge of AI technologies and their practical implementations in real world and how they apply to system engineering and operations.
  • Project management: waterfall/Agile, ROI, FRD/BRD/TRD, CBA, budgeting.
  • Experience working with RDMS, No‑SQL platforms and other common database platforms.

  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Experience in team‑oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes.
  • Ability to think strategically and tactically to implement the business and technical vision.
Compensation

Base salary $138,000 - $167,000. Position may also qualify for annual incentive or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience, education, certifications or other professional licenses, and location.
