Job summary

MANTECH seeks a Lead Systems Engineer to join our Chantilly, VA team onsite. You will lead a group of seasoned engineers, oversee Tier III IT support, and drive integration across Microsoft Server/Exchange environments and VMware platforms.

Required is a Bachelor's degree with 9+ years in IT, DoD 8570 Level III certs, and the ability to obtain a DoD 8570 compute-env cert within 6 months. Expect heavy collaboration, SOP creation, and up to 10% local travel.

Qualifications

• DoD 8570 Level III/8140 expert certs required.
• DoD 8570 compute env cert within 6 months of hire.
• Experience with Windows Server 2016/2019/2022/2025 and AD/Exchange.
• Knowledge of VMware, SANs, DNS, Group Policy and PKI.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier III IT systems support across Microsoft server/Exchange environments.
• Diagnose performance, security and technical challenges on listed platforms.
• Write SOPs for repetitive tasks and support ITIL lifecycle events.
• Perform requirements analysis and integration for all platforms.
• Lead and direct a team of Systems Engineers and mentor junior staff.
• Collaborate with other teams on production IT releases.
• Travel up to 10% locally.

Job description

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Lead Systems Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA. The position is onsite.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Providing Tier III IT Systems support on a wide range of technologies, including: Microsoft Server; Microsoft Server based Applications such as Exchange, SQL, IIS, Certificate Services, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, Group Policies; Microsoft Windows Desktop Operating Systems; Secure Printing technologies; VMware vCenter; and Horizon View

• Diagnosing and resolving the performance, security, and/or technical challenges related to the platforms listed above

• Writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to accomplish repetitive tasks

• Participating in processes throughout all phases of the ITIL Service Lifecycle, including submitting Change Requests

• Performing requirements analysis, requirements gathering, and integration for all platforms listed above

• Leading a team of experienced Systems Engineers and providing direction and guidance to less-experienced Systems Engineers

• Investigating and resolving operational problems in conjunction with other engineering teams and technical personnel

• Working on project teams responsible for engineering and packaging releases to integrate within the customer’s production IT environment

• Up to 10% local travel

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and 9+years of IT or related experience

• DoD 8570IAT Level III/8140 level expert Certificationrequired, ex., SecurityX, CASP+, CISSP

• DoD 8570 computing environment certification required within 6 months of hire, ex., AZ-802, VCP, or equivalent

• Experience with Microsoft Windows 2016/2019/2022/2025 Servers; Microsoft Windows 10; ad ministering Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, and workstation and server hardware; administering Microsoft Office 2010/2016; administering DNS, Group Policy, and PKI; administering vSphere or Horizon View, data backup, and antivirus software; basic networking including DHCP/TCPIP; experience with deploying workstation images; and experience with thin and/or zero clients

• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Systems, HP SANs, or VMware products

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficient with Microsoft Windows systems, including DNS, Group Policy, Microsoft Exchange on-prem, and Microsoft SQL server

• Working knowledge of applying security best practices from DISA and/or vendors

• Basic systems infrastructure and hardware experience

• Basic networking experience

• Experience with deploying workstations and Thin/Zero clients

• Scripting experience or willingness to learn

Clearance Requirements:

• Must have a current or active Top Secret clearance and be open to a polygraph

Physical Requirements:

• The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
