Job summary

Madison Area YMCA in Madison, NJ is seeking a Lead Swim Coach to lead daily coaching and athlete development for age-group swimmers.

Under the Head Coach, you'll create inclusive training, teach technique, plan practices, and collaborate with families and staff to support swimmers' goals.

This part-time position requires early mornings, evenings, and weekend commitments, with compensation ranging from $25 to $30 per hour.

Qualifications

• Competitive swimming or aquatic instruction experience.
• Strong knowledge of stroke technique, starts, turns, and age-group development.
• Ability to coach multiple groups and communicate effectively with families.
• Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct organized practices for assigned training groups.
• Teach and reinforce proper technique in four strokes, starts, turns, finishes.
• Develop season plan with Competitive Aquatics Director
• Provide clear, constructive feedback.
• Promote athlete retention with welcoming environment.
• Coordinate with other coaches when groups share pool space.
• Attend meets and prepare swimmers for competition.
• Maintain supervision and safety.
