Job summary

The City of Columbus is seeking a Surveyor Manager in Construction to lead field survey crews and coordinate CIP and private construction projects with City departments.

The role directs surveying and mapping activities, GIS, and right-of-way issues, prepares CIP data, and represents the division in meetings with developers, contractors, and agencies while mentoring staff and staying current with surveying standards.

Qualifications

• Valid Ohio Professional Surveyor license required and at least 3 years supervising surveying staff.
• Proficiency with GIS and related mapping techniques is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Directs field surveying and mapping unit including GIS, utility relocation, and right-of-way issues.
• Prepares data for CIP and operating budgets.
• Coordinates construction plans and reports for surveying and right-of-way concerns.
• Represents the Division in meetings with state, county, municipal agencies, contractors, and communities.
• Supervises and trains surveying staff, conducts evaluations, and handles disciplinary actions.
