Job summary

Rutgers University, operating within UCHC, seeks a Supervising Physician for Edna Mahan Correctional Facility in Clinton, NJ. The Supervising Physician provides medical services to inmates, oversees clinicians, and serves as liaison with external providers while being available for on-call duties.

You will supervise physicians and nurse practitioners, participate in CQI, review performance, and help implement policies, with a full onsite schedule and 40-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• Licensed physician in the State of New Jersey.
• Current DEA registration, CDS, and CPR certifications.
• Board Certified and qualified by state laws/regulations to practice medicine.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a service environment.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to multiple sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and professional supervision of physicians and nurse practitioners/physician assistants.
• Oversee clinical work and conduct regular peer reviews of documentation and medication usage.
• Host quarterly regional meetings to review CQI issues, policies, and problems.
• Maintain monthly provider clinic schedules and ensure timely communications with staff.
