Bulk early work for Stage 1 began at the 1,000+ acre facility in August 2012 and by December 2022, Bechtel had successfully and safely turned over the final phase of Stage 4 to Cheniere. SPL5 will perform this work predominantly on a direct hire basis with support from only a few specialty and service subcontractors.

The Infrastructure GBU scope consists of installing 9000+ precast concrete driven piles, construction of a new concrete retaining wall, ground improvement works (inc. soil stabilization and wick drains), extension of the existing earthworks platform, construction of a new network of roads, and modifications to the stormwater drainage system.
