Job description

Lead Substation Protection and Control Engineer

We are seeking a Lead Substation Protection and Control Engineer to join our fast‑paced Substation Engineering organization. The role involves leading the design and execution of high‑voltage utility substation projects, coordinating with other disciplines, and driving quality and client communication.

Work Schedule

• Hybrid: 1-3 days per week on site at our client’s office in Allentown, PA.
• Remote: 2-4 days per week. Work from your location.
• Qualified candidates MUST be located near Allentown, PA.

Responsibilities

• Act as a key contributor to substation protection and control design projects.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse team of engineers, designers, and drafters.
• Take complete ownership of projects, including management of financials, resources, and design.
• Serve as liaison, coordinating and collaborating with external clients.
• Continuously improve and maximize quality.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with clients.
• Contribute to the definition of design scope, philosophies, and methodologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Eight (8+) years of direct experience in substation protection and control design.
• Ability to lead substation design projects by aligning engineering execution with program management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Experience leading a project team.
• Experience in substation physical design.
• Field testing/commissioning experience.
