Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Substation Physical Design Engineer to lead high-voltage substation projects across the US. You will design according to codes, mentor junior engineers, coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and ensure quality, safety, and reliability from concept through construction.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years of substation design experience, ABET-accredited degree, and strong communication skills. This role supports remote or hybrid work within the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar from an ABET-accredited institution.
• 10+ years of experience in Substation physical design engineering.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Design power utility substations following applicable codes and client standards.
• Produce general arrangement, equipment layout, elevations, cable trench, grounding, conduit drawings, BOMs, and AC/DC power systems.
• Design ground grids and lightning protection plans.
• Perform load, bus span, and ampacity calculations.
