Job summary

Ellaway Blues Consulting is seeking a Lead Substation Engineer in Kansas City, MO, to lead technical design for substations and switchyards. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary EPC teams and clients to drive project execution, design reviews, and engineering oversight, ensuring quality and compliance.

The candidate will oversee engineers, coordinate RFIs and design reviews, and stay current with evolving industry standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in substations, switchyards, or power generation projects.
  • Strong knowledge of ASCE, AISC, ACI, IBC, NESC and related standards.
  • Proficiency with engineering software such as SAP2000, Hilti, MathCAD, or similar.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects within tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
  • U.S. work authorization (sponsorship not available).
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a Lead Substation Engineer to join a leading energy solutions company specializing in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects across the power sector. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in building an in-house engineering team while delivering high-quality, innovative solutions for switchyards and substations.

The Role:

The Lead Substation Engineer will lead and execute technical design work, ensuring excellence and consistency across all deliverables.
