Job summary

SSOE in Nashville is seeking a mid-to-senior Substation Designer to support the design and development of medium- and high-voltage substations for industrial facilities clients. You will create detailed physical design packages, develop drawings and models, and coordinate with engineering disciplines to ensure designs meet client, utility, and industry standards.

Senior-level candidates may provide technical leadership, mentor junior designers, and lead design efforts on complex projects.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting & Design or related discipline; equivalent experience considered.
• 10+ years of substation design experience for mid-level; 15+ years preferred for senior-level.
• Experience developing physical substation layouts for utility or industrial projects.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and power study software; knowledge of NESC/utility standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed physical substation design packages for 12kV through 500kV.
• Produce and maintain drawings using AutoCAD, ETAP or similar; Revit a plus.
• Support design reviews, coordination meetings, constructability reviews, and client meetings.
• Mentor junior designers and ensure design consistency and quality.
• Travel required; valid driver's license (waiver possible for some assignments).
