Job summary

SSOE Group seeks a mid-to-senior Substation Designer to design medium- and high-voltage substations for industrial facilities. You will create detailed design packages, develop drawings/models, and coordinate with engineering disciplines to ensure safe, reliable, and constructible designs.

Senior candidates may lead design efforts on complex projects, mentor junior designers, and provide technical leadership.

Qualifications

• Degree(s) or equivalent experience in engineering technology/drafting.
• 10+ years of substation design experience for mid-level; 15+ for senior.
• Experience developing physical substation layouts for utility or industrial projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed physical substation design packages for transmission and distribution (12kV–500kV).
• Produce and maintain drawings using AutoCAD, ETAP, Revit; other design software as needed.
• Support design reviews, coordination meetings, constructability reviews, and client meetings.
• Ensure drawings comply with client standards, NESC, utility practices, and quality procedures.
• Review vendor drawings and equipment information for project incorporation.
• Perform field walkdowns and site visits to verify conditions.
