Job summary

CareerNerds, LLC in Orange County, California is seeking a Structures Estimator with heavy civil experience to price bridges, concrete structures, water and wastewater facilities, and transportation infrastructure.

You will own full-cycle estimating from takeoff to bid submission and collaborate with operations to ensure successful project execution. Experience with Bluebeam, HCSS or HeavyBid is required and DOT/public works exposure is a strong plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years estimating in heavy civil or structural construction.
• Strong background in concrete structures and public works projects.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and structural drawings.
• Experience with takeoff and estimating software (Bluebeam, HCSS, HeavyBid, or similar).
• Solid understanding of production rates, means & methods, and cost drivers.
• Experience on DOT/public agency projects is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Execute full-cycle estimating from takeoff to bid submission.
• Perform quantity takeoffs (concrete, rebar, formwork, excavation, etc.).
• Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors for bid accuracy and pricing.
• Analyze costs for labor, materials, equipment, and production rates.
• Review plans, specs, geotechnical reports, and project risks.
• Apply value engineering and cost-saving strategies.
• Package bids and prepare proposals.
• Coordinate with project managers and field teams.
