Job summary

MK Consulting Group in Indianapolis seeks a Steel Shop Foreman to supervise daily operations in a structural or miscellaneous steel fabrication shop, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time completion.

You will lead welders and operators, interpret drawings, manage production scheduling, monitor inventory and equipment, and uphold AWS/OSHA standards in a fast-paced environment. This role requires 3–5 years of fabrication experience and proven leadership.

Qualifications

• Typically 3 to 5+ years of hands-on steel fabrication experience.
• Previous supervisory or foreman experience required.
• Strong welding knowledge across processes (GMAW, FCAW) and ability to read technical schematics.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform basic math with measuring tools.
• Familiarity with Fabtrol, Fabsuite, Tekla PowerFab, or BlueBeam is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Direct, train, and mentor shop personnel including welders, fitters, and machine operators.
• Read and analyze shop drawings, blueprints, and project plans for precise fabrication.
• Inspect workmanship and welds for dimensional accuracy and safety compliance.
• Coordinate daily workflow and monitor project deadlines with PMs, purchasing, and logistics.
• Monitor inventory levels for raw metals and supplies, oversee tool maintenance, and report equipment repair needs.
