Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Lead Structural & Payload Designer for the Space Intelligence and Weapon Systems (SI&WS) Integrated Design Center in Titusville, FL., which is a multi-function Engineering Organization with a mission statement to provide engineering solutions via a highly skilled flexible workforce and cutting-edge technologies for the advancement of the Boeing Enterprise. The Integrated Design Center provides engineering support to Enterprise-wide projects/programs and is a flexible team that strategically adapts to emerging opportunities.

Position Responsibilities:


  • Provides oversight and direction to develop, integrate and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design
  • Leads development, maintenance and modification of structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle
  • Leads performance, integration and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals
  • Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort
  • Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R.


  • 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.


Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):


  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
  • Knowledge of computer aided design tools and systems (e.g., computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), computer aided three dimensional interactive (CATIA), Mentor Graphics, Unigraphics). Able to manipulate data sets, (e.g., compare CATIA to measurement data, create stereo lithography files)
  • Advanced knowledge of design concepts and techniques (e.g., concurrent engineering, Design for Manufacture/Assembly [DFM/A])
  • Knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems. The ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):


  • Experience in structural and interior design processes from conceptual layout phase through build-to package release
  • Experience in Model Based Definition, Design for Manufacturing, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance, and Tolerance Analysis
  • Experience with CATIA (V4 and V5)
  • Experience with ENOVIA Workbenches
  • Experience in leading a structural and interior design team through product development


Relocation:

Summary pay range: $113,050 - $152,950
