Job summary

Zachry Group in North Carolina seeks a highly skilled Structural Ironworker with strong supervisory experience to lead up to 5-15 crew members on complex steel projects. You will read blueprints, coordinate rigging, ensure safety, and bridge field operations with supervisors.

Candidates must meet physical requirements and be able to work at heights above 300 ft. This hands-on role requires extensive knowledge of welding, bolting, and alignment, plus the ability to plan workloads and troubleshoot

Qualifications

• Must have 4+ years as Structural Ironworker and 2+ years in a supervisory role.
• Must meet all physical requirements and safety standards.
• Must be able to work at heights over 300 ft.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and specifications to determine scope, locations, quantities, and sizes of materials.
• Identify all tools required for tasks.
• Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
• Manage multiple crews regarding scheduling, processes and sequences, time, and cost.
• Illustrate in-depth knowledge of all iron/steel processes.
• Hoist equipment and tools into a location via bull rigging or crane.
• Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of structural-steel members using plumb bobs, laser equipment, transits, and/or levels.
• Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts following blueprints and supervisor instructions.
• Bolt aligned structural-steel members in position for permanent riveting or bolting.
• Pull, push, or pry iron/steel equipment into approximate positions for bolting into place.
• Cut, bend, and weld iron/steel pieces using metal shears, torches, and welding equipment.
