Job summary

Poutrix is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to lead water and wastewater structural design and construction projects in Houston, TX. You will guide the structural team, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and ensure compliant, high‑quality design deliverables for municipal and industrial Water/Wastewater infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Fifteen years of structural engineering experience in Water/Wastewater.
• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (structural emphasis).
• Professional Engineer license in Structural or Civil/Structural.
• Experience leading teams and coordinating multi-discipline projects.
• Proficiency in structural software (STAAD Pro) and design documentation tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide geographic leadership for the structural engineering team.
• Make staffing and strategy decisions.
• Manage junior and mid-level structural staff.
• Organize engineering investigations, calculations, and planning work for projects with clearly defined scope.
• Lead development of calculations, plans, specifications, RFPs, and other contract documents.
• Work with clients and subcontractors to coordinate meetings, present to clients, and prepare reports.
• Manage production of drawings, specifications, bid packages, and cost estimates.
• Function as Engineer of Record, Task Manager, or Project Engineer to manage budgets, schedules, permits, scopes, and coordination.
