Summary

We are seeking a Lead Structural Engineer and People Manager to join our Water business unit! You will lead a team of experienced structural engineers and designers with diverse backgrounds in an environment that fosters collaboration and development. This role involves making significant decisions on building and internal process structures for water and wastewater treatment facilities and related projects. Typical designs include reinforced concrete structures, tanks, masonry and precast concrete buildings, and ancillary items like pipe supports, railings, and platforms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead the structural group, coordinate workload, and communicate staffing needs to project managers and leadership. Manage personnel within the group and assist in strategic hiring.
  • Use professional judgment to independently complete engineering tasks within established criteria.
  • Complete major design tasks with limited supervision, focusing on Water/Wastewater and Utility projects, primarily involving concrete, masonry, and steel design.
  • Ensure accuracy of tasks using HR Green QA/QC processes.
  • Assist clients in bidding or contractor selection if authorized.
  • Conduct field observations, inspections, and data collection as needed.
  • Respond to contractor questions, prepare project addenda, and recommend change orders when authorized.
  • Participate in preparing engineering proposals, including time and cost estimations.
  • Sign and seal engineering documents as an authorized representative.
  • Communicate technical matters with clients.
  • Under supervision, assign and manage tasks to staff engineers and team members.
  • Participate in professional associations related to expertise.
Qualifications
  • Water experience is preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited university in a relevant discipline.
  • Professional registration (P.E.) in one or more states; ability to obtain registration in Texas is highly desirable.
  • S.E. certification is a plus but not required.
  • 7+ years of design/engineering experience with the ability to sign engineering documents.
  • Proficient in Office software, AutoCAD, Civil3D, Revit, and structural design software like RISA and STAAD.
  • Strong technical communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle for work purposes.
Compensation Range

$101,200.00 - $161,600.00

The compensation depends on factors like education, experience, skills, and location. It may include a base salary and performance bonuses.
