Job summary

Jackola Engineering & Architecture in Kalispell, Montana seeks a licensed Structural Engineer to serve as Structural Discipline Lead. You will advance technical excellence, maintain standards, mentor staff, and ensure high-quality structural practices across the firm.

In collaboration with clients, contractors, and vendors, you will guide discipline standards and lead staff through design and construction phases, shaping the future of structural engineering at Jackola.

Qualifications

PE license required; SE designation a plus, but not required.
10+ years of structural engineering experience post-graduation.
Experience with wood, steel, concrete, and masonry design.
Strong understanding of building codes and value engineering practices.
Excellent written and oral communication; attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Lead development and maintenance of structural design standards.
Monitor QA processes, peer reviews, construction feedback, and emerging technologies to promote technical excellence.
Serve as the company’s primary technical resource for structural engineering matters.
Identify mentorship, training, and continuing education opportunities for the structural team.
Evaluate structural engineering candidates and assess technical competency and team fit.
Provide guidance on technical design and drafting challenges and develop effective solutions.
Collaborate with other Discipline Leads to establish best practices and quality standards across disciplines.
Independently lead structural design staff through project design and construction phases.
Work in a multi-discipline team to develop structures, drawings, and specifications.
Respond to contractors during construction.
