Sargent & Lundy’s Government Services Division provides cutting-edge engineering and consulting to the management and operating contractors for the US Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).   • Lead Structural design engineering efforts on multi-disciplined project design team
  • Apply structural engineering expertise to the design and qualification of structures, systems, and components
  • Prepare engineering calculations/analyses, design drawings, specifications, and engineering reports
  • Monitor the work of assigned staff on technical matters pertinent to project assignments; Maintain assigned tasks within schedule and budget to fit the needs of the projects
  • Attend project meetings and perform field walk downs; communicate clearly in meetings with clients and summarize meeting notes in a clear and timely manner
Qualifications

Must be a U.S. Citizen; Dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance
  • BSCE or BSSE degree or similar from an ABET-accredited program
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in civil and structural engineering
  • Experience with producing engineering designs for foundations, structures, and support structures

Valued, but not required skills and experience:

  • Multiple years of experience in a nuclear environment (DOE preferred, commercial or Navy), highly desirable
  • Professional Engineering (PE) Licensure in Structural Engineering
  • Field Engineering and Construction Experience
  • Experience with ACI, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC
  • Proficiency in finite element analysis software such as ANSYS or SAP2000 or equivalent
