Summary

The part-time Lead Structural Engineer will lead the delivery of technically robust projects vital to our transportation network, focusing on bridges and other transportation structures such as culverts, walls, and sign structures. The role aims to meet and surpass client expectations while ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

As the Lead Structural Engineer, you will make significant design decisions within your expertise, with minimal input from the Project Manager for assigned projects. You will have opportunities to mentor staff, contribute to marketing and business development, and serve as Project Manager for projects aligned with your discipline. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned engineer to make a meaningful impact on our innovative team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Utilize software for analyzing and designing complex bridges and structures.
  • Assess and design rehabilitation plans for existing bridges.
  • Prepare technical specifications, reports, calculations, plans, and construction services.
  • Develop engineering budgets and schedules to meet project requirements.
  • Create design procedures to ensure high-quality work.
  • Guide and manage junior engineers and CAD staff.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
  • Perform quality control reviews of designs and drawings.
  • Contribute to or lead project proposals and agreements.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and 10 years of related experience or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interpret technical literature and plans.
  • Proficiency with bridge design software such as LEAP Enterprise, STAAD, MDX, and MIDAS.
  • Experience operating technical analysis equipment and computer systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applicable to routine and complex tasks.
  • Experience designing bridges and transportation structures.
