Job summary

JMJ PHILLIP is seeking a Lead Stress Engineer to provide technical leadership in structural analysis for aerospace projects. You will lead stress analysis activities for new product development and sustaining programs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

You will guide a team of stress engineers, perform FEA on metallic and composite structures, and contribute to engineering reviews,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of aerospace structural/stress analysis experience.
  • Experience with FEA and traditional hand calculations.
  • Experience analyzing metallic and composite aerospace structures.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace engineering principles and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead stress analysis activities for aerospace structures using engineering methods.
  • Perform structural analysis on metallic and composite components using hand calculations and FEA.
  • Provide technical guidance to a team of stress engineers and coordinate activities.
  • Prepare engineering documentation, reports, and analyses in compliance with standards.
  • Drive process improvements and promote best practices in analysis methods.

Job description

We are seeking a Lead Stress Engineer to provide technical leadership in structural analysis for aerospace engineering projects. In this role, you will lead stress analysis activities for new product development and sustaining programs, collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, and ensure the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions that meet customer, regulatory, and business requirements.

Position Responsibilities
Structural Analysis & Engineering
  • Lead stress analysis activities for aerospace structures using sound engineering principles.
  • Perform structural analysis on metallic and composite components using hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Support new product introduction (NPI), production, and sustaining engineering programs.
Technical Leadership
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of stress engineers.
  • Coordinate engineering activities across multiple teams and project stakeholders.
  • Drive engineering excellence by promoting best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and other engineering disciplines to resolve technical issues.
  • Communicate engineering findings and project updates with internal teams and customers.
  • Support engineering reviews and participate in technical presentations.
Engineering Documentation
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, reports, and technical analyses.
  • Ensure all engineering work complies with applicable standards, procedures, and project requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of analysis, calculations, and engineering decisions.
Process Improvement
  • Develop and implement improvements to engineering processes, analysis methods, and productivity.
  • Support the development of standardized engineering tools, metrics, and best practices.
  • Contribute to initiatives that enhance quality, efficiency, and overall engineering performance.
Problem Solving & Technical Support
  • Investigate and resolve structural, manufacturing, supplier, and field-related engineering issues.
  • Support certification, testing, and validation activities as required.
  • Provide technical recommendations to ensure product reliability and performance.
Prerequisites
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience performing structural or stress analysis in the aerospace industry.
  • Strong experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and traditional hand calculations.
  • Experience analyzing metallic and composite aerospace structures.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and structural integrity.
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional engineering environment.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) training or certification.
  • Patran/Nastran proficiency or related structural analysis software certification.
  • Aerospace industry certifications or specialized engineering training.
