Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems Sector in Huntsville, Alabama seeks a Senior Stress Analyst to develop models and perform structural and dynamic analyses using FEM/FEA tools. You will collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to deliver high-performance structures that meet demanding requirements and support mission success.

Applicants should have a ABET-accredited degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, 4–8 years of relevant experience (or 2–6 with a master), and experience with FEMAP/NX

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent (ABET-accredited).
• 4–8 years of relevant industry experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 2–6 years with a master’s degree.
• Demonstrated experience with commercial finite element analysis tools (e.g. FEMAP/NX NASTRAN, PATRAN/MSC NASTRAN, ANSYS, Abaqus).
• Strong technical writing, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Proven ability to thrive in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
• Capable of working as part of a larger analysis team or sole analyst on a project.
• U.S. citizenship and Final Secret Clearance—or eligibility to obtain and maintain one.
• Residence in, or willingness to relocate to, the Huntsville, Alabama area.

Primary Responsibilities

• Apply analytical methods, finite element models, simulations, and other engineering tools to develop models, perform structural and dynamic analyses, conduct calculations, reduce test data, and correlate results.


• Partner closely with design and manufacturing teams to deliver high-performance structures that meet demanding requirements for performance, manufacturability, and schedule.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university.


• Possess 4–8 years of relevant industry experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 2–6 years with a master’s degree.


• Demonstrated experience with any of the commercial finite element analysis tools (e.g. FEMAP/NX NASTRAN, PATRAN/MSC NASTRAN, ANSYS, Abaqus, etc.).


• Strong technical writing, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.


• Proven ability to thrive in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering environment.


• Capable of working as part of a larger analysis team or working as the sole analyst on a project.


• U.S. citizenship and a current Final Secret Clearance—or eligibility to obtain and maintain one.


• Residence in, or willingness to relocate to, the Huntsville, Alabama area.

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with a 3.5 or higher GPA.

Pay Range
