Job summary

The Foth Companies seeks an experienced Lead Stormwater & Water Resources Engineer to provide technical leadership across stormwater, drainage, flood mitigation, and water resources projects nationwide. This senior role focuses on mentoring engineers, improving standards, and guiding modeling and analyses.

The ideal candidate will be located near one of Foth’s office locations, with preference for proximity to Des Moines, IA; remote candidates may be considered based on alignment with leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure.
• Experience in stormwater, drainage, and water resources engineering with complex delivery.
• Experience providing technical leadership and reviews on water resources projects.
• Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XPSWMM, PCSWMM, HydroCAD, ArcGIS Pro, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly with project teams, clients, and agencies.
• Travel availability around 10–20%.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical leader for stormwater, drainage, flood risk, and water resources projects.
• Provide oversight for reports, modeling, designs, and construction documents.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews and training.
• Support development of discipline standards, QA/QC, modeling workflows, and training resources.
• Lead design and delivery of stormwater systems, drainage infrastructure, watershed studies, flood mitigation, and water quality improvements.
• Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for urban and rural watersheds.
• Develop drainage master plans and flood studies.
