Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, aTH Instructional Support Assistant/Lead Sterile Supply Technicianis a valuable member of our team, who assumes the responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Central Sterile Supply for the assigned shift in his/her absence, determining shift staffing needs, and assigning overtime as needed. The incumbent will collaborate with the Assistant Director of Central Sterile Supply in maintaining inventory levels of all prostheses and implants, assuring the availability of range of sizes, sterile and ready for use. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior communication and organizational skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.

Duties may include the following but are not limited to:

• Be responsible for assuring completion of daily tasks in the area assigned.
• Possess the necessary skills to communicate in a professional manner with the user areas such as the Operating Room, Labor and Delivery and the Emergency.
• Be assigned to a specific service and work as an active member of the Supervisor/Operating clinician team.
• Review case carts along with the Assistant Director to assure accuracy and provide necessary components for individual Operating Room cases.
• Work with the In-Service Educator in the orientation of new staff, aiding in the hands-on learning of tasks in the clinical setting and making assessments to instructors on the performance of a new employee.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: At least 2 years of experience in Central Sterile Supply with instrumentation, sterilization, case cart and implant experience. CRCST or CSPDT Certification or evidence of employment as a central service technician in a healthcare facility for a period of one year occurring within January 1, 2011 to January 1, 2015.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $44,949 - $55,141.

The above salary range represents SBUH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate’s validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.

Some positions offer annual supplemental pay such as:

• Location pay for UUP full-time positions ($3,400)
