Job Summary and Qualifications

What you will do in this role:

  • Oversees the daily operations of the central processing area(s) related to decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of instruments and equipment.
  • Performs training and orientation for central processing staff.
  • Manages inventory and supplies housed in the central processing area(s).
  • Cleans equipment and restocks supplies in a timely manner to prepare for patient unit needs.
  • Directs and supervises staff assigned to the Central Processing area(s).
  • Develops and updates tools used in the assembly of instrument sets.
  • Performs quality monitoring and sterilization validation testing.

What qualifications you will need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prefer knowledge of medical terminology and concepts of inventory management.
  • Minimum of 2 years as a Sterile Processing/Central Processing Technician. Experience in managing supply and equipment inventories preferred.
  • Experience as a team leader preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge preferred. In-depth knowledge of the functions and operations of various types of decontamination and sterilization equipment required. Advanced knowledge of basic instrumentation and equipment required.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to support department efficiencies required. Self-motivated and directed. Ability to direct and supervise Sterile Processing work production. Ability to communicate positively and professionally. Ability to perform problem-solving resulting in improved processes and performance for the department. Ability to work collaboratively with many levels of people.
