Qualifications

  • Five (5) years Sterile Processing or Operating Room Technician experience.
  • Current HSPA Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification.
  • Current HSPA Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) certification.
  • Current HSPA Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification.
  • Current HSPA Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) certification.
  • HSPA Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) certification, must be obtained during the first year in this position and remain current.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and assist daily task assignments and maintain quality standards.
  • Ensure inventory activities are monitored weekly for effective operation.
  • Conduct routine testing and cleaning of sterilization equipment.
  • Ensures that inventory activities and reports are monitored weekly.
  • Decontaminates, restocks and assembles case carts and surgical trays.
  • Ensures specialty carts are stocked and ready for immediate use.
  • Prepares accurate reports of revisions and modifications as required.
  • Assists with immediate need requests from all units daily.
  • Works with daily, weekly and monthly reports to assure quality performance standards.
  • Performs quality control through routine testing and cleaning to assure sterilization equipment and instruments are functioning properly.
  • Inspects equipment, instruments, and packaging for cleanliness, defects and/or sterilization records.
  • Performs quality checks and follow up education.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Summary
  • Under the limited supervision of the Sterile Processing Manager this position will be responsible for functioning as a lead liaison by performing quality audits to instrumentation accuracy, assuring sterilization of equipment and instruments in an accurate and timely manner. Prepares operating room case carts, sterile trays and supplies for all areas of the hospital and assumes responsibility to ensure staff assignments are being carried out for daily operation of the department.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

A high school diploma or GED equivalent. Progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

Non-supervisory – Five (5) years Sterile Processing or Operating Room Technician experience. An equivalent combination of relevant experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for experience.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION
