Job summary

Frederick Health Hospital is seeking a Lead Certified Sterile Processing Tech to oversee daily operations in the Sterile Processing department. Under the Manager, you will coordinate staff, ensure instrument readiness, and maintain regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include leading shift activities, reviewing OR instrumentation needs, validating staff competency, and participating in inventories. Certification in sterile processing and 3–5 years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification via the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution or Healthcare Sterile Processing Association with three to five years experience.
• Must maintain certification as reflected by the certifying board’s requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates daily activities of staff and orientation of new hires.
• Reviews OR schedule for instrumentation needs and ensures receipt and preparation of necessary vendor trays.
• Communicates unresolved schedule needs via daily shift report.
• Ensures staff are complying with department policies and procedures.
• Performs staff competency reviews upon hire and yearly thereafter.
• Works in prep and pack daily and other areas to include sterilization, sterile storage and decontamination as needed.
• Assists with inventories as needed.
