Job Summary and Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Surgical Services Manager and the administrative supervision of the Director of Surgical Services, the sterile processing lead is responsible for processing instrument trays, maintaining sterilizers, maintaining sterilization log books, overseeing sterile processing technicians, and ensuring compliance with AAMI, AORN, and Joint Commission standards.
The position requires flexibility in working hours and efficient use of time in a fast‑paced environment.
- Lead the preparation, cleaning, and sterilization of surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring all items are properly cleaned and ready for use.
- Organize instruments and equipment based on surgery schedules and special case needs.
- Monitor sterilization processes and equipment performance, keep accurate records, and report issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked workspace that supports the team and upholds infection control standards.
- Train and support team members in safe work practices and best procedures.
Qualifications
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) obtained within 6 months of employment.
- Ability to take calls and respond within 30 minutes.
