Job summary

Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction’s Chillicothe Correctional Institution seeks a Stationary Engineer 2 to oversee powerhouse operations and maintenance. The role involves supervising staff, monitoring boilers and related equipment, logging readings, and ensuring security and compliance.

Starting pay is based on qualifications, experience and location, with a compensation range of $54,000 to $72,000 annually.

Qualifications

• Stationary Steam Engineer License per Section 4104.19, Revised Code; 6 mos. exp. as licensed stationary engineer.

Responsibilities

• Lead worker over lower-level powerhouse staff and/or inmates in installation, repair, maintenance and operation of powerhouse equipment (boilers, furnaces, stokers, turbines, pumps, generators, etc.).
• Make rounds reading gauges, adjust equipment and observe operation of equipment.
• Start/stop/shift over-generating equipment as needed.
• Maintain logs, fuel records, power generated; document time and records.
• Maintain security of inmates and inventory of parts and supplies; order parts.
• Oversee maintenance around powerhouse; perform annual boiler inspection and maintenance.
• Attend trainings, committees, and perform security functions as required.
