Lead Staff (Residential counselor/ Direct Support Professional)

Job Description : As a Lead Staff (Residential Counselor/Direct Support Professional) you will supervising the operation of one or more residential facilities. To provide direct care and training for persons living in the homes. The role ensures the safety and well-being of residents by supervising both residents and residential counselors, monitoring health needs, documenting and following medication schedules, coordinating with the nurse, and reporting prescription refill needs. Duties also involve following emergency and first aid procedures, ensuring dietary plans are met, maintaining communication with the maintenance department, overseeing residents’ appearance, and ensuring compliance with licensing regulations. Additionally, the position requires conducting safety drills, maintaining disaster supplies, and possessing a valid California driver’s license with the ability to drive for work-related purposes

Key Responsibilities:

Maintains confidentiality in matter of clients, personnel, and Villa Esperanza operations; exercises good judgment in the performance of duties and responsibilities.

Ensure the safety and well-being of each resident.

Promote learning and continual growth.

Facilitate communication with administrative and residential staff.

Schedule and supervise staff.

Attend all workshops, in-service and staff meeting for Residential staff.

Complete these activities as needed:

Take residents shopping/supervise/teach clothing selection skills

Arbitrate personality conflicts among residents

Coordinate residential counselor’s vacation, sick leave and time off on an ongoing basis with administration

Be responsible for ongoing activities calendar

Be available for meetings and discussions with parents and families of residents; and

Identify & report repairs and general up keep of property and equipment to director and maintenance.

Carry out special assignments as requested.

Review and follow current personnel Policies

Report directly to the Director of Residential Services and Administrator.

Other duties as assigned and required.

Through Villa’s various levels of support and assistance, individuals are reaching their greatest level of independence; living, working, playing and being active in their community. *A valid CA driver’s license, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation are preferred to safely and effectively support special needs clients in achieving their goals.

Access educational or vocational programs.

Run necessary errands, such as grocery shopping or picking up prescriptions

Compensation: $22.00 - $22.25/hour + $1,000.00 (paid in increments over the course of 12 months).

*Contingency: The sign-on bonus is not applicable to rehires.

Schedule: Mon, Wed, Fri 6am - 2pm and Tues, Thurs 9am - 5pm (40 hours/week)

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Maintain required certifications (DSP I and II, etc.).

Maintain a valid and active certification in First Aid and CPR.

Experience assisting special needs individuals.

Satisfactorily pass a background fingerprinting clearance from DOJ/FBI Community Care Licensing/Dept. of Social Services and the California Department of Public Health.

Satisfactorily complete a physical & TB screening.

Valid CA Driver’s License with at least 3 years of verifiable driving history. **Driving is an essential function of the position, and alternative transportation methods, such as ride-hailing services, taxis, carpooling, bicycling, or walking, would not be comparable in terms of travel time or cost. This position requires driving residents with special needs to: Medical appointments and therapy sessions. Community activities, events, and recreational outings. Educational or vocational programs. Necessary errands, such as grocery shopping or picking up prescriptions.
