Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. seeks a Lead Sr Building Engineer for a mission-critical hospital campus in Waco, Texas.

You will be the operational backbone, directing maintenance workflows, safeguarding life safety, and ensuring reliable environmental control across complex building systems. You will lead preventative maintenance, supervise on-site teams and contractors, manage BAS platforms, and respond to emergencies while ensuring compliance with healthcare codes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 5-8 years of job-related experience.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage team workflows, and make independent decisions in a high-pressure environment.
• Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Manage and direct daily maintenance workflows, ensuring all work orders are completed efficiently and within established SLAs, and serve as escalation point for the engineering team.
• Perform hands-on maintenance on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and facility infrastructure when required.
• Lead the preventative maintenance program to extend equipment life, minimize downtime, and ensure peak performance.
• Monitor BAS platforms to proactively manage environmental conditions, energy efficiency, and system anomalies.
• Oversee third-party contractors, schedule site visits, coordinate access, and audit work for compliance with quality standards and contract specs.
• Serve as primary responder for facility emergencies and critical system failures, diagnosing issues rapidly and implementing effective solutions.
• Ensure maintenance aligns with healthcare regulatory requirements, life safety codes, and company safety protocols; conduct inspections for life safety systems and fire alarms.

About the Role:

As a Lead Sr Building Engineer at CBRE, you will be the operational backbone of a mission-critical hospital campus in Waco, TX. You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and operational efficiency of complex building systems. This is a hands‑on leadership position that requires a technical expert capable of directing workflows, maintaining rigorous compliance standards, and fostering a safe, comfortable environment for patients, medical staff, and visitors.

This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.

What You’ll Do:

• Manage and direct daily maintenance workflows, ensuring all work orders are completed efficiently and within established SLAs. Serve as a point of escalation for the engineering and maintenance team.
• Jump in to assist the team directly when operational demands require additional support by perform hands on maintenance on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and general facility infrastructure.
• Lead the implementation and execution of a robust preventative maintenance program to extend equipment lifespan, minimize downtime, and ensure peak performance.
• Utilize and monitor BAS platforms to proactively manage environmental conditions, optimize energy efficiency, and troubleshoot system anomalies.
• Oversee third-party contractors, including scheduling site visits, coordinating access, and auditing work to ensure compliance with quality standards and contract specifications.
• Serve as a primary responder for facility emergencies and critical system failures, diagnosing issues rapidly and implementing effective solutions.
• Ensure all maintenance activities align with healthcare regulatory requirements, life safety codes, and company safety protocols. Conduct and sign off on inspections for life safety systems, fire alarms, and critical infrastructure.
• When needed travel to local satellite facilities as needed to provide technical support and ensure consistency in operational standards across the campus footprint.
