Job summary

The Madison Club seeks a Lead Spray Technician to ensure the safe and effective application of fertilizers and pesticides across golf course surfaces. The technician will manage spray operations, maintain accurate records, and support turf health and compliance with regulations.

Job description

The Lead Spray Technician is responsible for the safe, effective, and timely application of fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other turfgrass products across all golf course playing surfaces and landscaped areas. This role leads spray operations, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports overall turf health and course conditions. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, schedule, and execute all chemical and fertilizer applications for greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and ornamental areas
  • Calibrate, maintain, and operate spray equipment to ensure accurate application rates
  • Mix and apply products in accordance with label directions, safety standards, and environmental regulations
  • Maintain detailed application records including product usage, rates, weather conditions, and target areas
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local pesticide regulations
  • Maintain inventory of all chemicals
  • Train and supervise spray technicians or assigned crew members
  • Maintain chemical storage facilities in a clean, organized, and compliant manner
  • Assist with other areas of golf course maintenance as needed
  • Promote and follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE
Qualifications
  • Valid QAC (Qualified Applicator Certificate)
  • 2–5 years of experience in turfgrass management or pesticide application (prior experience preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of turfgrass species, pest identification, and chemical control methods
  • Ability to read and interpret pesticide labels and SDS sheets
  • Experience with spray equipment calibration and maintenance
  • Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required in golf course operations
  • Valid driver’s license
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat typical of desert environments
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and operate equipment for extended periods
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

The Company’s good faith estimate of the hourly rate it expects to pay for this role is $25-$30/hr and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
