Job summary

The Summit Center in Amherst, NY is seeking a Teacher (SAE) to lead classrooms and coordinate a transdisciplinary team. You will plan lessons and monitor student progress, collaborating with psychiatrists, social workers, psychologists, and behavior analysts to support outcomes.

Primary duties include implementing IEP requirements, data-driven instruction, and behavior management strategies. Current NYSED special education certification is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education required.
• Master's degree in Special Education preferred.
• NYS Special Education certificate required.
• Experience with IEPs and school-based services.

Responsibilities

• Review and implement all educational requirements in each student’s IEP.
• Establish and monitor individual curricula, data collection and charting systems.
• Implement behavior management procedures developed by the treatment team.
• Supervise and manage activities of Behavior Specialists.
• Provide a safe, age-appropriate educational environment for students.
• Coordinate and collaborate with Support Service Personnel (related).
• Collaborate and effectively communicate with families and external service providers.
