Job summary

URBN Urban Outfitters, Inc.'s Terrain Café in Westport is seeking a skilled Sous Chef to serve as second in command in a fast-paced scratch kitchen, aligning with Executive Chef's standards. This role requires leadership across Sauté, Grill, and Oven, and a commitment to quality and hospitality.

You will manage the BOH team, train for culinary consistency, ensure health and safety compliance, and collaborate on menu design, inventory, and labor scheduling.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of kitchen management in a high-volume, scratch-kitchen.
• Expert proficiency with industrial kitchen equipment and advanced culinary techniques.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and delegate to a large culinary team.

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor the back-of-house team with hands-on training and consistency.
• Direct high-volume service with precision, prioritizing speed without compromising plating or taste.
• Masterfully execute dishes across Sauté, Grill, and Oven stations.
• Ensure compliance with health regulations, food safety, and sanitation.
• Coordinate with the Executive Chef on menu design, inventory, and labor scheduling.
• Resourcefully solve operational issues with a positive, professional approach.
