Job summary

Continental Energy Solutions in Oak Brook, IL is seeking an experienced electrical design engineer to deliver end-to-end renewable energy projects, including PV and storage systems, interconnection drawings, and permit-ready documentation.

You will model systems with PVSyst/Helioscope, create shop drawings in AutoCAD, conduct field surveys, ensure code compliance, and collaborate with project managers and installers to drive on-time project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• 5+ years experience in renewable energy electrical construction and design.
• NABCEP, electrical engineering and/or AutoCad certification courses preferred.
• In-depth electrical knowledge and ability to analyze and perform voltage drop, ampacity, power factor, arc fault, short circuit, protection coordination and equipment selection studies.
• General construction knowledge is preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD 2D/3D, Revit, Bluebeam, and renewable energy modeling software is expected.
• Proficiency in MS Office and strong attention to detail is essential.
• Strong client service and teamwork orientation; ability to work under deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Model photovoltaic systems in PVSyst or Helioscope for production estimates.
• Conduct site surveys to assess field conditions and existing electrical infrastructure.
• Design projects per building codes, best practices, and project requirements.
• Create single-line diagrams, schedules, calculations for approval authorities.
• Produce shop drawings and installation details for construction teams.
• Scan existing conditions via drone or ground-based surveys.
• Create AutoCAD layouts based on conditions, codes, and customer needs.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and installers to provide needed information.
• Update record drawings from field markups and site visits.
