Charlie Mike Recruiting partners with a national leader in renewable energy to recruit engineering leadership for commercial solar and storage projects in Chicago, IL. The role focuses on leading technical design, team supervision, and client liaison across projects.

The candidate will bring 7+ years in engineering, 2+ years PV design and management experience, and a strong knowledge of NEC and fire codes. Proficiency with Helioscope, AutoCAD and PVsyst is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate engineering activities for design and development of commercial solar and energy storage systems.
  • Hire, supervise, support and develop engineering team.
  • Support project management and learn team responsibilities.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and ensure project success within schedule and budget.
  • Review SOPs and workflows to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Interface with customers on technical questions and contract documents; negotiate with vendors.

Responsibilities
  • This position is responsible for leading and coordinating engineering activities for the technical support,design and development of commercial solar and energy storage systems.
  • Hire, supervise, support and develop engineering team
  • Assist engineering project management team as needed learning all aspects of the team’sresponsibilities
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients
  • Assess current SOPs and workflows identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure projects are completed efficiently, correctly, on schedule, and within budget
  • Negotiate contracts with outside vendors
  • Maintain relationships and manage expectations with engineering consultants and equipmentvendors
  • Review engineering work for accuracy and ensuring compliance with engineering principles
  • Review RFPs and contract documents
  • Act as liaison with Project Management on matters relating to engineering progress, quality,scope issues on projects as well as interface with customers on technical questions/concerns
  • Research latest technologies and best practices
Education & Experience
  • Degree in engineering, electrical preferred
  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • 2+ years of PV design engineering experience
  • 2+ years of engineering management experience
  • Battery/Storage experience, preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills & attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • Project management and time management skills
  • Expertise in building strong relationships
  • Proficiency in understanding solar system design (Heliosocpe, AutoCAD, PVsyst)
  • NABCEP Design Specialist Certification preferred

  • Experience preparing electrical engineering design packages
