Job summary

Hanwha Defense USA in Huntsville, AL seeks a Software Manager to lead a team delivering ground combat vehicle software for US Army programs. You will own requirements, design, integration, and digital engineering efforts across embedded software, sensors, ballistics, and interfaces.

The role requires experience with DoD software standards, real-time embedded environments, and tools like Python, Linux (RHEL/ Rocky), KVM, VMware, and GitLab. Travel to customer sites and vendors is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, CS, Systems Engineering, or related field.
• Experience delivering ground vehicle or aerospace software solutions.
• Owns the full software development lifecycle including requirements, code, tests and integration.
• Experience with Python, RHEL/ Rocky Linux, KVM and VMware.
• GitLab experience; Windows and Linux environments; secure software practices.
• Familiarity with DoD software standards and acquisition processes.
• Strong ability to communicate complex software and system behaviors clearly.

Responsibilities

• Co-chair subcontractor Milestone Reviews and approve Software CDRL submissions.
• Chair and organize Software Interface Control Working Groups with HDUSA and customers.
• Support Software Safety initiatives and system safety integration.
• Integrate software/firmware from HDUSA and external suppliers into SIL.
• Implement systems-security engineering with platform cyber security.
• Lead software and system level requirements, interfaces, and specifications.
• Prepare and review engineering artifacts, design reviews, and program deliverables.
• Plan and execute verification/validation, ballistic solution checks, timing analyses.
• Lead technical interchanges with government customers and partners.
• Identify technical risks and support mitigation planning.
• Travel to customer sites, partner facilities, test ranges, and events.
