Full Stack Tech Lead - Remote in the US
We’re looking for a Lead Ruby on Rails Developer to take ownership of critical software initiatives within a fast-moving, mission-driven organization. This is an opportunity to lead the development of both internal and client-facing applications that will significantly shape the digital experience in a traditionally non-digital industry. You’ll play a key role in driving technical strategy, shaping product direction, and mentoring a growing engineering team.

You’ll work in a startup-like environment—but with an existing, extensive user base—building applications that support legal operations, enhance client communication, and streamline complex workflows. Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of new features and products across both client-facing and internal platforms.
• Collaborate closely with product managerand stakeholders to align engineering efforts with business goals.
• Establish and promote engineering best practices, architecture standards, and agile development processes.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to fellow developers, helping to grow a high-performing engineering culture.
• Own full-stack development efforts, including backend (Rails), frontend (Svelte, Hotwire), and dev-ops (Heroku)
• Contribute to the long-term technical vision, including scalability, performance, and security improvements.
• Drive initiatives to extend software capabilities into new legal case types and operational workflows.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading software development initiatives and mentoring teams.
• Strong expertise in Ruby on Rails, with a track record of delivering production-level web applications.
• Experience with modern frontend frameworks (Svelte, React, Vue, etc.) and UI development using Tailwind CSS or similar tools.
• Experience building and maintaining cloud-native systems, preferably on Heroku, AWS, or similar platforms.
• Strong integration experience with APIs and third-party systems.
• Passion for delivering exceptional user experiences and solving real-world problems with elegant software solutions.

Nice to Have

• Experience working on consumer-facing applications with large user bases.
• Background in industries like legal tech, healthcare, or fintech, particularly with compliance or regulatory requirements.
• Exposure to Salesforce development or API integrations.
• Familiarity with document processing or data extraction from formats like PDFs and images.
• Interest or experience in applying generative AI technologies to internal tooling or customer experiences.
