Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. within the Credit Technology team is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to design, develop, and troubleshoot components across complex systems while partnering with traders and control functions to deliver reliable, low-latency workflows.

You will contribute to front office software solutions for loan trading, risk management, and P&L, and help enhance trusted market-leading technology in a secure, scalable way.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong Python experience and production code development.
• Experience in large corporate environments; SDLC experience.
• Degree in CS/CE/Math or related field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and troubleshoot components across complex systems.
• Develop secure production code; review and debug others' code.
• Automate remediation of recurring issues to improve stability.
• Lead evaluation sessions with vendors and teams on architecture and applicability.

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Credit Technology team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way.. You will design, develop, and troubleshoot multiple components across complex systems while partnering closely with traders and control functions to deliver reliable, low-latency workflows.

Job responsibilities

• Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems

• Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others

• Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems

• Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture

• Develop and integrate trading workflows and loan reference data for the Secondary Loan Trading desk.

• Build scalable, front-office–facing services that streamline trading workflow management and enhance desk productivity.

• Design, implement, and troubleshoot components end to end, accounting for upstream and downstream dependencies and technical implications.

• Translate evolving business demands into clear technical requirements and pragmatic solutions under time constraints, apply structured troubleshooting to isolate root causes and resolve issues across services and data flows.

• Adhere to secure coding practices and engineering methodologies to deliver stable, maintainable systems throughout the SDLC.

• Good individual contributor, ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.

• Hands‑on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability with strong proficiency in Python.

• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in large corporate environments; strong SQL and database querying skills.

• Advanced understanding of agile practices including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.

• Demonstrated experience across the full Software Development Life Cycle.

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• Familiarity with modern front-end technologies.

• Familiarity with Java and Spring Boot.

• Practical experience with cloud-native development (AWS).

• Knowledge of Fixed Income products, with emphasis on syndicated and secondary loans.
