Technical Lead Secure API Engineering

This role gives you real visibility, real ownership, and real range. You will lead technical work across engineering delivery, production support, and platform improvement, with the chance to shape how the system performs day to day and over time. One day might center on microservices or NiFi dataflows. Another might focus on troubleshooting production issues, scaling throughput, or improving performance and observability. The work sits at the intersection of engineering, operations, and mission support, which keeps it technical, varied, and closely tied to outcomes that matter.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities

• Lead a team of software and DevOps engineers delivering secure, reliable, mission‑focused solutions
• Design, build, and enhance Java and Spring‑based microservices in a modern containerized environment
• Develop and maintain Apache NiFi workflows, including custom processors, to support data ingestion and processing at scale
• Work with DevOps teams to improve throughput, expand cluster capacity, and keep pace with growing data volume and velocity
• Support production systems through Tier 2 and Tier 3 troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and issue resolution
• Use Linux command line tools to investigate issues, manage services, and support daily engineering operations
• Improve platform stability, observability, and performance using tools like Grafana and Prometheus
• Help build a team culture centered on strong engineering, shared ownership, and reliable delivery

Minimum Qualifications

• Top Secret Clearance with Full Scope Polygraph, must be active; sponsorship not available
• U.S. Citizenship required; visa sponsorship not available
• 20 years of experience as a Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or four additional years of equivalent experience
• 5 years of demonstrated cloud experience with distributed, scalable big data stores such as HBase, CloudBase, Accumulo, BigTable, or similar; experience with MapReduce tools (Hadoop, Hive, or Pig); HDFS; serialization methods such as JSON or BSON

Required Skills

• Experience serving as a technical lead on a complex product or capability
• Experience leading software and DevOps engineers in delivering solutions to mission customers
• Strong experience working in Linux command line environments
• Experience developing microservices using Java and Spring
• Experience developing and maintaining NiFi workflows, including custom processors
• Experience partnering with DevOps teams to scale processing clusters
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and containerd
• Experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
• Experience using monitoring and observability tools including Grafana and Prometheus
• Experience using Git for version control

Desired Skills

• Experience with CI/CD practices and tools such as GitLab CI and ArgoCD
• Experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch for indexing and retrieval
• Additional experience with NiFi for dataflow management and ingestion
• Experience working with the Amazon HCI platform
• Strong debugging, documentation, and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in an Agile environment and across a multidisciplinary team

Compensation

$196,000.00 – $252,000.00. Final compensation will depend on experience, technical background, overall qualifications, and alignment with the position.
