Overview
Lead Software Engineer within PGIM Product Technology, responsible for designing, building and maintaining modern, high‑performance UI solutions using ReactJS, TypeScript and contemporary front‑end patterns. Join a hybrid team based in Newark, NJ, with a requirement to be on site three days per week.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable UI architectures using React, TypeScript, and modern front‑end patterns, ensuring responsive, accessible, and high‑performance experiences.
- Design, build, and maintain full‑stack application solutions in collaboration with React front‑ends, .NET backend services, and SQL/NoSQL data stores.
- Translate complex business and user requirements into well‑designed technical solutions.
- Establish and evolve application architecture standards, including UI component design, state management strategies, API integration patterns, and data access approaches.
- Work with Infrastructure and DevOps teams to define and extend CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, deployments, and environment consistency.
- Ensure data integrity, performance, and reliability across application data layers by designing effective schemas, queries, and data access patterns.
- Architect and integrate front‑end solutions with backend and platform services, ensuring secure, efficient API consumption.
- Lead a small engineering team, providing technical direction, guidance, code reviews, and mentorship.
- Drive adoption of best practices and standards across UI development, backend services, and data access with a focus on security, compliance, performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Serve as subject‑matter expert for front‑end development, coaching engineers on React best practices, modern JavaScript/TypeScript patterns, testing strategies, and overall application design.
- Create and maintain clear technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design guidelines, coding standards, and operational playbooks.
- Continuously evaluate and adopt modern tools, frameworks, and patterns that improve developer productivity and application performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong focus on designing and delivering enterprise‑scale web applications.
- Deep expertise in React, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, and contemporary front‑end frameworks and tooling for reusable, scalable, and accessible UIs.
- Experience with React server‑side rendering (SSR) concepts (e.g., Next.js, Node.js) and SSR‑based React applications integrated with backend services.
- Proficiency in building UI using Microsoft Power Pages.
- Strong experience designing and building backend services using .NET, including API design, integration patterns, security, and performance optimization.
- Solid experience with relational and NoSQL databases, designing efficient data models and queries.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Azure for cloud‑native application development, deployments, integrations, and production operations.
- Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices, including automated builds, testing, and deployments with GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps.
- Strong architectural skills, defining and evolving front‑end and full‑stack application standards.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, conduct design and code reviews, and drive engineering practices.
- Experience delivering multiple concurrent projects in a fast‑paced environment, balancing development and leadership responsibilities.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
- Financial Services industry experience (preferred).
- Microsoft or cloud‑related certifications (preferred).
Compensation
Annual base salary range: $145,000 – $200,000, with potential yearly bonus. Benefits include 401(k) with company match, pension plan, medical/dental/vision/insurance coverage, PTO, leave options, and additional perks.
