Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. in Jersey City is seeking a Lead Software Engineer within the Credit Risk Technology organization to drive secure, scalable technology products and deliver trusted solutions that support the firm’s business objectives.

You will be a core technical contributor responsible for designing, developing and debugging production code, leading modernization efforts, and collaborating with vendors and internal teams to enhance stability and performance across the risk technology stack.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with 5+ years of applied experience.
• Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Advanced proficiency in Java or Python.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases/ Transact SQL (Oracle/Sybase/SQL Server).
• Strong knowledge of Databricks.

Responsibilities

• Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine approaches.
• Participate in and leads the modernization and upgrade of the Credit Risk technology stack according to industry best practices.
• Develops secure high-quality production code and reviews and debugs code written by others.
• Identifies opportunities to automate remediation of recurring issues to improve stability of software applications and systems.
• Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs and applicability for use within existing systems.
• Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote awareness and use of new technologies.
• Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

• Participate in and leads the modernization and upgrade of the Credit Risk technology stack in accordance with the industry best practices
• Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
• Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
• Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
• Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
• Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
• Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Advanced proficiency in Java or Python
• Strong knowledge of relational databases/ Transact SQL (Oracle/Sybase/SQL Server)
• Strong Knowledge of Databricks
• Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
• Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
